About Me
“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Steve Jobs Jean-Paul Cortés, What-IS-Coaching The Life Vision Strategy Coach Where Do You See Your Life In 10 Years? My job here at What-IS-Coaching is to get you to move into action, to change people's minds about the importance of personal development and to promote success coaching for everyone. Life is good. Success leaves clues...that's as true for me as it is for you. Life teaches its lessons differently to each of us, that makes us exquisitely unique. In my case, being the oddball out has taught me the value of different perspectives, shyness has taught me how to listen, fatherhood has taught me patience, hardship has taught me the value of work, love has taught me happiness, friendship has taught me trust. I have a lot to be grateful for, coaching is my way of giving back.
What Brought You To Coaching?
What brought me to where I am, what is the meaning of all the work I do? I realized that fundamentally everything we do, every decision we make, every thought we craft is inter-dependent, but seldom do we realize this and this is where we run into problems. I discovered that ultimately if we don't find meaning in our work and life, we are buying a one way ticket to dissatisfaction and unproductivity. This is where I center my work on.
Can You Tell Me More About Your Coaching Philosophy?
I decided to devote a lot of my efforts in asking questions, in getting to know what makes us tick. I started paying attention to how everything is affected not only by what I think, but how I think. I've come to understand, that significant change is possible for everyone; in fact I believe change is a necessity and that it's grounded in how we think about life. It's a journey that will take me my entire life but in learning more about myself and how I evolve as a conscious human being and what I can do to bring about significant change for others, I believe I can do a lot of good. This is the basis for my
Life Awareness Coaching
Program. People can experience life in a different, new and powerful way, that's my vision.
What Is It About Your Job That Gives You The Most Happiness?
The possibility to talk to other people and find out what they think and believe about their lives. Most of us sell ourselves short in what we believe we can achieve. We've stopped going after our dreams and aspirations and we've given into a sense of hopelessness that nothing can change. In reality, there's a lot that we can do, but we need to start by looking for solutions rather than centering on problems. What are the possibilities? There's a lot that we can learn from everyone and I want to help others realize this.
What Is It That You're Trying To Do?
I'm trying to get people to pay attention to themselves. To take back ownership of their lives and to harness the power of self-knowledge and insight. I want to remind people that in order to change things, they need to start by changing themselves on the inside. What I'm proposing is that there's a much more meaningful, enriching way to look at things and that with proper learning it's perfectly within our grasp to change the way we interact with life. In the end, we'll gain a lot more from being strong within than whatever we can do, buy or achieve on the outside.
What Principles Have You Built Your Philosophy Upon?
My quest has to do with a human being's desire to realize authentic achievement, if life were a ladder I want to make sure that it's placed on the right wall. In other words I want my work to reflect that which gives people's life meaning. In doing so, I've organized my thoughts according to these principles: Optimism: I have always believed in the power hidden in the positive mind-set. The magic of believing in oneself. A Definitive Vision: I have high aspirations, aims and goals; for myself and for others. If one has a clear idea of where to go, the road to get there will always meet your way. Willingness To Work On Myself: I believe we should always strive to improve ourselves, learning a lesson each day for the rest of our lives. Discipline: Change requires commitment; there are no half-hearted efforts. Integrated Mind: We have enormous assets available to us if we learn how to tap into our subconscious minds. The power of intuition and self knowledge are ever more important these days. Action Orientation: The first step is always the hardest but it's also the most rewarding and in the end taking action, will set us apart from living a mediocre life. Expecting The Best: Life will give us exactly what we ask of it, setting our aims high will allow us the freedom to always improve. Mastery: I strive to be the best at what I do, so that gains are maximized for everyone I come in contact with. Success As A Person: I am a well rounded person and I develop myself in every aspect of my life: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
What Are Your Influences?
I think rather that asking what, the right question is who has influenced me. I find inspiration in many of the World's great leaders, such as Nelson Mandela, Ernest Shackleton, Marie Curie, Eleanor Roosevelt, the Buddha, Jesus and many others. Their lives and work are examples of what we can do. It reminds us of what's possible.
