Coaching Thoughts: Living up to your expectations
Are you living up to your expectations?
Pay attention, I'm not asking if you're living up to someone else's expectations of what you should be.
I'm asking if you're living up to your expectations. In other words, what do you want for yourself.
Sometimes we lose sight of what we want for ourselves, in favor of what someone else (sometimes without even knowing who that someone is) expects from us.
It all starts with clarity. In having a clear idea of our wants; but, how do you do that? It's simple really...
Make a list. Yes, it's that simple. The problem is, most of us don't have the habit of making a list of what we want, instead we try to read minds and figure out what's expected of us.
This list is always a work in progress; be open to change it, flexible enough so that if you need to, you can go back and work on it.
The point is, when you figure out what you want and work towards attaining that, you will not be at the mercy of what others expect from you.
