Coach Meets The Internet
Life Coaching Online

"Who has time to go meet a personal coach at an office? And don't the new generation of web workers need to be met by their coaches in the same way that they work: via email, IM, and VoIP?"
Web Worker Daily

The Internet has forever changed the way we understand the meaning of being connected; from dusk till dawn, workplace to home base, we're accessing the Internet and making the world a smaller place.

Coaches can now leverage their expertise and offer their services completely through online means. Unlike face-to-face coaching, interaction will take place through e-mail, instant messenger or other forms of electronic coaching, making it, for now, different from traditional coaching.

From a coaching perspective what are the pros and cons of life coaching online?

POSSIBLE ADVANTAGESPOSSIBLE DISADVANTAGES
The exchange of information is made through written form, allowing you the possibility to reflect further on key issuesEmotions are hard to translate to written form for many people, which could lead to confusion
The impersonal nature of the Internet allows you to explore areas that you may feel uncomfortable doing so in personMany people need the energy that's created from face-to-face or telephone coaching relationships
Time and location constraints are not an issue with this type of coachingIf clear structures of how and when the coaching process will take place are not established you may be setting yourself up for failure
Costs are significantly reduced in online coaching

The reason why I state that "for now" life coaching online is different from traditional coaching is because technology is growing at an unprecedented pace. This makes it certain that we'll see many more ways of being able to offer coaching online, that assimilates face-to-face interactions.

This is great news for many of us that spend a lot of time on the Internet; in fact, I believe coaching is perfectly suited to adapting it's methods and models to a growing online world's requirements.

Ask your coach if he offers e-coaching, this just might be what you've been looking for. If you've considered the possible caveats to being coached like this, and believe that it could work out for you, by all means give it a try!

You now have more choices in the way you're being coached on the journey to success. How great is that?
